How I Started My Journey Into the Photography World

Since I was in 4th grade, I had been involved in 4-H. (If you don’t know what that is, google it. Also, make your kids do it too.)

Every year I would always enter photos in the photography projects section. I had always done well, but never had an image make it to State.

Finally, my junior year in high school, not only did one of my images go to the Iowa State Fair but it also received an award only 20 people in the state received, the Professional Photographers of Iowa 4-H Gallery Award in 2010. It was a picture of a red leaf in my front driveway. (See below)

That award inspired my love for photography so much that I decided I wanted to go to college for Professional Photography. There, I received an award only given to three applicants out of my graduating class and the class below me. (View the image in my Portfolio here.)

It all started with a leaf. And I’ve truly loved every wonderful and crazy second of it since.
